A new radio series exploring the gaming industry.

 

To celebrate Downham Games Career Festival 2025, Radio Lewisham have been working with Phoenix Community Housing’s Elevate 100 and INTO Games to produce a special radio series all about the gaming industry.

 

Gaming is one of the fastest-growing creative sectors, offering not only entertainment but also new career pathways, community spaces, and technologies.

 

Over four episodes, Radio Lewisham presenters James, Nesh, Racheal and Brandon cover everything from games development, to streaming, to inclusion and diversity in the industry.

Ep. 1

Making games

 

Nesh and Brandon explore the various roles involved in creating games with Ustwo Games CCO Danny Gray.  Danny also discusses his journey into gaming, the challenges along the way, and the happy accidents that led him to create of one of Nesh’s favourite games Monument Valley. 

 


Ep. 2

Indie games 

 

James looks at independent side of the gaming industry with indie games developer Stephanie Abbott. Stephanie shares her experiences as an indie developer, the work behind her studio Maple Butter Studios and her specialism in Cosy Games and Visual Novels.

Streaming and content creation 

 

Nesh and Brandon take us into the world of video game streamers and content creators, unpacking what it means to be a streamer and speaking to two professional content creators in the industry about their journeys.  

   


Ep. 4

Diversity and Inclusion in the gaming industry

 

In the final episode Racheal takes a look at the make-up of the gaming industry in the UK, where women and non-binary people are still vastly underrepresented. Racheal interviews Nigel Twumasi, a former software engineer turned creative entrepreneur who has spent years working to challenge stereotypes and improved access into gaming.
