We’re taking part in the BIG Give Christmas Challenge fundraiser this December!
We’re aiming to raise £5000 in just one week from Tuesday 3 – Tuesday 10 December! The funds raised will go a long way towards creating and developing safe and accessible spaces for young people facing challenging circumstances through our vibrant programme of community music in the heart of Bellingham, including music production, songwriting, rap and lyricism, singing and our youth-led radio station ‘Radio Lewisham’.
One donation, double the impact!
Thanks to the support of ArtsTrain Music and The Reed Foundation, every donation made (up to £2500) within the campaign week will be doubled!
Any support for our campaign would be MASSIVELY appreciated, whether that be a donation or simply sharing wherever possible.

The campaign
The funds raised will support a vibrant programme of community music in the heart of the Bellingham Estate in Lewisham. Working with our partner ArtsTrain Music young people living in challenging circumstances will be supported through a programme of learning, events and collaboration facilities. Check out some of the projects we’ve been working on recently.
The situation
Right now in Lewisham the opportunities for children to engage in music are uneven and all too often dependent family income. We have the highest proportion of children and young people (29.6%) living in economic deprivation in England. Without our support many of Lewisham’s children will not get access to equal musical opportunities. Through our tailored programme of learning events and mentoring we are here to change this!
How we can help
Through our wide network of referral partners including social service, looked after children service, young carers teams, special schools etc. we will identify and engage young people in a vibrant programme of learning. Young people will be supported by our team of inspirational music mentors and teachers. The community of young musicians will benefit from a wide-ranging programme of music workshops and performance events.
Understanding the target
The funds raised during this campaign will directly support community music activity taking place at our community venue at The Fellowship in the heart of the Bellingham Estate. Any funding raised over and above the target will increase the duration/volume of activity we are able to provide. If we fail to reach our funding target, whatever funding is secured will go towards community music activity, however resulting in fewer music workshops. The purpose of the campaign will not become invalid, and anything raised will massively help.
Campaign aims and impact
We want young people to develop a sense of belonging and community through accessing our vibrant programme of music-making in a safe and accessible environment. Young people will develop their wellbeing, self-efficacy, self-belief, agency and motivation; improve their song writing, composition and performance skills through collaborative musical experiences; and we will build a safe and supportive community of young creatives that have a strong voice over the direction of their creativity
Lewisham Music is a learning organisation, committed to using our experience to shape our practice and develop ourselves as individuals and as an organisation. This approach to learning allows us to strengthen our reach and impact. Young people will complete a baseline and follow up survey (Online Individual Learning Plan) and Music Leaders will also conduct observations utilising our independently developed observation framework.
