Youth Voice is an important part of everything we do as a charity.
We want to amplify the voices of young people and ensure they have the support they need to thrive. We aim to ensure that young people inform everything we do, and open collaboration is promoted, consulting with young people, listening to what they have to say and acting on it together.
Music can never be truly inclusive and progressive without the presence of the youth voice. Young people must have the opportunity to participate in the dialogue surrounding their music education to ensure an inclusive and beneficial systems. The youth voice can be incredibly powerful in counteracting the potentially damaging hierarchical structures that still exist within music genres, teaching methods and pathways through music education, many of which don’t necessarily represent the needs and motivations of young people. Ultimately, young people can help in understanding and responding to many varied and sometimes unseen needs, and developing an honestly diverse workforce.
