Lewisham Music are looking to recruit a Learning and Outreach Manager (Radio).

Lewisham Music is an award-winning youth charity and Principal Partner in the South East London Music Hub. Working alongside local and national partners, we deliver and support a diverse range of musical opportunities in schools and communities across Lewisham.

The Learning and Outreach Manager is an important role which comes at an exciting time for the charity. With access to state-of-the-art music and radio facilities in our premises (The Fellowship), new funding streams and partnerships, it will play a central role in supporting the next stage of Radio Lewisham’s development.

As Learning and Outreach Manager, you will…

Be crucial to the effective delivery and expansion of an innovative community-based radio programme

Work closely with a network of partner organisations to deliver captivating outreach activity, deliver training, coordinate activity and oversee the growth of the station.

Work directly with a range of partner organisations, professionals, young people, and families.

Play a key role in diversifying and developing Radio Lewisham’s activity programme to strengthen our impact and reach.

Roughly half the role will be desk-based, involving project management, administration, reporting, and the rest of the time will be focused on being out in the community, working with partner organisations, and building relationships with young people, families and professionals.

Radio Lewisham

Radio Lewisham was initiated by Jentai Gen-One (Young Mayor 2023/24). Jentai wanted to develop a radio station for and by young people in Lewisham. Partnerships were created with Bloomsbury Institute, the Young Mayors Project and Lewisham Music. Together with colleagues across Lewisham we have worked with the Young Mayor and a team of Young Advisors to develop Radio Lewisham.

The station currently broadcasts online and has to date engaged over 150 young people in training and content creation. The station has developed organically over the past year and is hosted at Lewisham Music’s community music venue The Fellowship in Bellingham. Whilst Radio Lewisham is still in the early stages of development there is huge potential for growth.
